Manchester City, the new United?
Okay so I know what everyone’s thinking, who does this kid think he is for even comparing Manchester City to United? I would like to remind everyone out there that there are two teams in Manchester, and I’m sure I’m going to catch some heat for saying this one but City is not only more talented this year, but has more potential. 12 points with a game in hand compared to the three teams ahead of them?
I’m not saying City is going to win the EPL this year, but lets wind the clocks back. Manchester City really hasn’t been in the conversation. Their best finish in the past 4 seasons has been ninth. Pretty far away from the other big dogs in the league. This year though? They are not only boasting an impressive opening start but are right in the thick of the competition. Unless you have a short memory, you will remember what happened when City played Arsenal a few days ago? I rest my case

Lets look at the Derby last week. United won it in typical fashion, a last minute (way last minute in fact the 96th) with a Michael Owen Goal. Keeping in mind Craig Bellamy has been one of the sparks for City’s striking this year, who did he play with up top? It’d be easier actually if I just talked about who didn’t play… Carlos Tevez, Robinho, and the always dominate Emmanuel Adebayor. The goals might have tipped in the favor of City had any of them played.
Lets also look at the fact that this game was at Old Trafford, I think Green Street Hooligans stated it best when they said “Only two little words keep every Hammer in England up all night… United away”. I’m curious to see what is going to happen when United has to play on City’s pitch.
I’m looking forward to the time when Manchester United isn’t the top team in the EPL, and that time is now. Lets look at some other clubs, Chelsea has been on fire, and Liverpool is looking like their in top form as well. I’m using this post to basically rag on ManU and if you don’t like it… well I’m really not going to apologize. They’ve had an impressive start, but something in the back of my mind keeps telling me, United’s time, at least for now, is over.
Also, I can finally speak my mind about football, since I’m not blogging for a class anymore.
